Geographical Details
Thalayolaparambu is an important Grama Panchayat located in Vadayar Village under the Kaduthuruthy Block in Vaikom Taluk of Kottayam District. It is well known as the birthplace of the renowned Malayalam writer Vaikom Muhammad Basheer and is also famous as a major commercial and cultural centre.

Topography
Based on its geographical characteristics, the Panchayat falls predominantly within the midland region of Kerala. The terrain consists of plains, gentle hillocks, and fertile agricultural lands. The area is situated at an average elevation of approximately 10 metres above sea level. Karippoothodu and the distributaries of the Muvattupuzha River contribute significantly to the area's water resources.

The distributaries of the Muvattupuzha River and several streams constitute the major water resources of the Panchayat. The Vadayar River and its associated canals enhance the fertility of the region. Residents primarily depend on wells, public water supply schemes, and these water bodies for drinking water and irrigation.
